Writers invited to Story Catcher Workshop

Published:

Aspiring writers are invited to sign up for the Story Catcher Summer Writing Workshop at Chadron State College.

The workshop, which is being sponsored by the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Society and the CSC Department of English and Humanities, is set for Wednesday afternoon through Saturday morning, May 30-June 2. The list of presenters includes experts on a variety of writing, including poetry, fiction and prose.

The name of the conference is derived from “The Story Catcher,” Sandoz’s last published novel which tells the story of a young Oglala Sioux member who gained respect by documenting tribal life.

The workshop has a May 9 registration deadline and tuition of $300, which includes a non-refundable deposit of $50. It is being advertised to all writers, but organizers are suggesting that participants be at least at the high school junior level or above. Discounts are available for students and Sandoz Society members.

Details may be found by visiting www.storycatcherworkshop.com.
